Faster Image to PDF With Smaller Files
Image to PDF conversions are now 2 to 4 times faster on our scanned-document tests. Many PDFs also come out much smaller, with no loss of image quality.
Highlights
- Faster page layout. An image that already fills its page is placed as it is, instead of being redrawn onto a blank page. This speeds up every image format, JPG and black-and-white scans included.
- Smaller files. BMP, GIF, PNG, TIFF and WebP images are stored with fast lossless compression. Before, BMP and uncompressed TIFF images went into the PDF without any compression, so a 10-page uncompressed TIFF scan made a 331 MB PDF. It now makes a 2.9 MB PDF.
- Same image quality. Nothing is re-encoded with loss. JPEG images and black-and-white scans keep their original compression, and so does every image in a document that mixes them with other formats.
- Exact pixels in Word and PowerPoint. PNG to DOCX and PNG to PPTX keep 256-color PNG images pixel for pixel, instead of storing them as JPEG.
